Meet the Artist:

I began my formal studies in 1997 at the Rhode Island School of Design, where I earned a certificate in decorative painting. After graduating from RISD, I spent twelve years working both independently and in collaboration with other artists, creating murals and specialty decorative finishes for homes and commercial spaces throughout New England. I found great joy in the uniqueness of each project and in the challenge of translating a client’s vision into a beautiful, tangible finish. Those many years of working with decorative materials ultimately led me to the distinctive technique I now use to create my fine art paintings.

My work has always been driven by a fascination with vibrancy and texture. This fascination informs my process of layering, adding, and subtracting elements to build depth and complexity. Using tools such as a sander and an X-Acto knife, I break through layers of glaze and varnish to reveal the underlying colors that I have slowly built up over time. I often incorporate metal leaf, allowing light to move through and across the surface, giving each piece a dynamic and luminous quality.
