Kate Turning
Meet the Artist
Having been born in a taxi during a family trip, it’s no wonder that Kate Turning just can’t stand still. Assignments and fine art projects have taken her as far afield as Tahiti, Japan, Hong Kong, India, Europe and Saudi Arabia. She has created unique and lyrical imagery for clients from pop stars to major ad campaigns.
She orchestrates her photographs like frothy Rossini bonbons, bursting with detailed embellishment and an ever-present sense of fun and imagination. Her deep love of painting in all its forms from the Old Masters to Pop Art, can be seen in her bold use of color and innovative lighting. Kate is a graduate of Art Center College of Design.
A few highlights from her fine art career include solo shows including Nose Job, Women’s Work and most recently “Cirio: Bending Time” in Todos Santos and at Zona Maco with the prestigious Galleria Enrique Guerrero. Other notable exhibitions include : A Thousand Clowns” with Diane Keaton, Hybrids at La Luz de Jesus, The Raw Beauty Project and being chosen for the permanent collection at the Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture. Many of the prints on the Palapa Society Studio Tour are available for the first time in Mexico.
