Carl Rowe
Carl Rowe has been an artist all his life. In his youth music dominated his attention, then acting and eventually he settled into a 40 year career as a dancer/choreographer. In 1990 he took up painting in his spare time in order to “have a conversation” with the land around him. Living in Idaho, USA provided an endless stimulation to absorb and relate to the diversity and beauty of the West. For 28 years he has made painting his second career, and it remains his sole focus after retiring from dance.
Carl has won awards in art including Fellowships from the Idaho Commission on the Arts, the Boise, Idaho Mayor’s Award for excellence in the Arts and the Governor’s Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Arts.
Carl and his wife, Tracy, had for years fantasized about escaping Idaho’s winter and last year took the plunge, coming to Todos Santos for four months. He participated in the Studio Tour last year, and is looking forward to once again being part of this wonderful arts event.
