Karen Haley

Meet the Artist

Raised in Northern California, Karen Haley moved to Alaska in 1972. She took her first stained glass class in the early 80’s and thus began a passion for working with glass. Much of the work she has done has been commissioned, including several windows in homes in Sitka Alaska and 1 in Houston Texas. Most of those pieces incorporated shells from the wild Alaskan beaches. The seasonal move to Todos Santos in 1999 inspired many new projects including a collaboration with Jill Logan that can be seen in her Studio as well as several commissioned windows around this Pueblo Mágico, some including pieces of polished agate found on camping trips. After hurricane Odile did serious damage to the home and with lots of time to kill during the remodel, mosaic became a means of passing time and also adding to the extensive remodel. She still accepts commissions for windows and other projects but fulfillment comes from the meditative moment that mosaic brings.
