Maxine Jacobson
Meet the Artist
Maxine Jacobson began working with clay in the early 1970s. She attended Lake Placid Center for the Arts in Lake Placid, New York and the University of Montana School of Visual and Media Arts Ceramics Program in Missoula, Montana. After a 40-year hiatus from clay she re-submerged into the world of her favorite art medium. She has lived in Todos Santos for 14 years.
Maxine’s ceramic work is influenced by her love of nature and nature-informed shapes, textures, tints and colors. She uses organic firing processes and materials and carves, throws and hand builds her pieces. Her fondness for the element of surprise, the magical and the sacred is achieved through pit, dung and raku fires. Her clay works are on display at Carrizo Gallery and Adornos Studio in Las Tunas.
