Meet the Artist:

I have a BA in Art History from UBC Vancouver. B.C., and an honorable graduation certificate from the Victoria College of Art, B.C.;also ten years of working with Gary Cook, Printmaking Professor at UNM, Taos; also six workshops at Crown Point Press, work with Master Printer Ron Pokrasso, Santa Fe, and many other self-study opportunities – mostly working full time in my studio for the last forty years. I began as a painter and continue to paint but printmaking, once discovered, has been the primary pursuit for the last twenty years. Since Covid, when I had the opportunity to begin learning the technique of mokuhanga from Hiroki Morinoue in Hawaii, I have been making mokuhanga prints. It is a traditional technique of wood carving the image, then printing it on delicate washi (Japanese paper) with water based pigments. The image is transferred by hand, with a baren, so that the pressure of the hand is instrumental in creating delicate washes or saturated hues. Traditionally, it is a small format and I will have mostly small pieces for sale. I will also be selling paintings.
