Meet the Artist:
I’m an ocean watcher at heart, and I feel most at home capturing stormy waves, wild coastlines and mysterious beaches. Such places are my favorite subjects to draw, paint and write about. Trying to capture them has fascinated me since I was 11. Only later did I realize this stuff was “art”.
Since 1990 I have worked professionally with watercolor, pencil on paper, and acrylic paints on canvas. I’ll usually combine memory, photos and sketches of the subject to create a new composition. Meanwhile, I continue to explore beaches and watch the surf in search of new ideas.
Beginning in 1995, I’ve been exploring an imagined world I call the Commonwealth of New Island in the southern Indian Ocean. New Island can be found at www.newisland.net.
