Meet the Artist:
Paulina Segovia “Poletalapaleta”
Poleta la Paleta (Paulina Segovia) is an illustrator originally from Metepec, State of Mexico. Although she wasn’t exactly a “marker girl” as a child, it was in her teens that she began connecting with comic strip artists, cartoonists, and comic books. With a borrowed iPad, she started pursuing her desire to tell stories through drawing.
Breaking with her family’s tradition of engineering, she decided to study Digital Illustration and 2D Animation at ESCENA in Mexico City, where she experimented with different techniques and styles until she developed her own visual language.
Currently, her work is characterized by stylization, the use of vibrant colors, and humor as tools to create striking and distinctive images. Her work has a personal focus and stems from experiences and events that have shaped her.
In this collection, Poleta works for the first time from the space that surrounds her: a place she has lived with for almost five years and that now forms part of her visual imagination.
