Sofia Chahovskoy – Chuparosa
Meet the Artist:
My name is Sofia Chahovskoy, I’ve lived in Northern California on the coast for most of my adult life. My husband children and I began traveling to Todos Santos around 4 years ago and fell in love with the area. Me and my husband both love the south west and love spending time in the desert and deciding to build a home in Cerritos and spend a portion of our time here each winter. We are so grateful to be part of the thriving and inspirational art world of this area.
I have been interested in art my whole life and have been sewing and crafting since I was very small. I took many art classes as a child and attended Humboldt State university where I gained a degree in Art. I am versed in many mediums including painting, ceramics, printmaking, sewing and silver smithing. During this art Tour I will be presenting my earrings. They are made from cloth and include embroidery and beadwork. The design for these earrings has developed over the years with influences from Native American beadwork to native Mexican textiles. Today these earrings incorporate bright lively colors and a combination of floral and geometric design work.
