Tom Hamer

Meet the Artist:

Tom Hamer grew up surrounding himself with wildlife at his suburban home in Deerfield, Illinois, rescuing any wild creatures that came his way. He grew up as a falconer, hunting game with his hawks and falcons, was a beekeeper, and raised woodchucks, pigeons, owls, small birds, crows, and many other animals as a child. He went on to become a Wildlife Biologist and Ecologist and for forty years conducted wildlife research and conservation projects all over the United States. His last wildlife project involved helping introduce California Condors into Redwood National Park. For the last three years he has been photographing birds of the southern Baja Peninsula and using these images to create his Baja Bird series (oil on canvas).
