Meet the Artist:

Artist, designer, and documentary filmmaker
Born in Colombia, Elena Vásquez Castaño studied Visual Design at the University of Caldas. She later lived in Argentina, where she furthered her training in documentary filmmaking, painting, ceramics, sculpture, programming, and robotics. She currently resides in Todos Santos, Baja California Sur, Mexico, where she runs her own gallery, Art Gallery Alquimia, a space where she also teaches workshops in art, sculpture, ceramics, and programming.

Her work falls within the realm of magical realism, combining classical Renaissance techniques with contemporary approaches. She works with oil paint, wood, clay, and sculpture to bring to life characters that explore the sacred and the divine. Her creations represent beings that travel through time and are imbued with mystical symbolism.
She has held numerous solo and group exhibitions in various international galleries and museums.
